Never ending E-mails and Advertisements and Stephanie Plum!

So the past two weeks I feel as if I have read more ads and e-mails trying to persuade me to buy the "best deal of the season." I did find good deals on books at Amazon.

This week I went back to reading the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovih. I am reading Sizzling Sixteen. So Far I love this book.   The characters are laugh out loud funny. It was so easy to picture them. Like Lulu with her tightfitting clothes and ample bosom, and her shoes full of glitter and sequins. This is not fiction that teaches you much, it is just fiction that lets you relax and have some fun.

The book is a mystery, fantasy and laugh out loud funny!

This week I continue to read the Hunger Game Series with the final book Mocking Jay. The author Suzanne Collins did a very nice job ending the series. I believe the series ended correctly although I was a bit surprised by the ending.

I was glad that I took the time to read the series. I think that books that  are able to draw teenagers and young adults back to reading for enjoyment are great. My teenage daughter loved the series. She never read the Twilight series or Harry Potter but for some reason the Hunger Games grabbed her attention and she is still hooked. She is looking forward to the Movie although she is hesitant because she knows that it will not be exactly the same.

Catching Fire

I was able to fiinsh catching fire it took me a bit longer to read this book. I must have been interrupted a lot because I found myself rereading parts that I had previously read. I also found that I did not stay as focused when reading this week as I had in previoius weeks.

The book was good. I was entertained but as I previously stated it was not as "catching" as the first book. I will not tell muy daughter this. I am looking forward to reading the last book in the series by Suzanne Collins. I will start reading this week.

I have found that reading at night before I go to bed is a nice new habit that i really enjoy. I have never really read before bed but I am enjoying it.

Catching Fire

This week I started reading the second book in the Hunger Games series, Catching Fire. Catching fire incorporates all the things I enjoyed about the Hunger Games. The characters continue to grow, although I wish that I was able to go deeper into the characters of Katniss, Pita and Gayle.

I have enjoyed reading this week I will most likely finish the book by next week. Reading this series had mad my teenage daughter excited she loves the fact that her and I have read the same book. Although sometimes she gets a bit carried away with the information that she gives me and gets ahead of where I am in the book.

I finished  The Hunger Games. A few thoughts come to my mind. The plot of the book is intense, as a parent I wish that I would of read the book before allowing my daughter to read the book at age 11-12. I believe I still would of let her read The Hunger Games but I might have discussed issues and events that occurred.

On another note I read The Hunger Games in book form, I had previously read They Boy in the Stripped Pajamas in digital form on my Kindle. I may be a bit old fashion but I think I prefer reading in book form. One thing I noticed when reading on the Kindle is that there is  additional information available for you such as important quotes and events. I am not sure if that is available on all books that are downloaded; I do think that they are helpful especially if reading a book as an assignment.

Next week I will start reading the second book in The Hunger Game Trilogy, Catching Fire.

The Hunger Games

Well I final bit the bullet and started reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Both of my daughters have read all three books in the series. My 13 year old has read the series three times and is anxiously awaiting the movie.

I feel as though I have already read the books because of how much my daughters talk about the characters.
The Hunger Games is an easy read and easy to follow. I do not usually like books that are set in the future. The story is a bout a young girl who lives in an area of the world that was once the United States. The young girl, Katniss is sent into the Hunger Games where she has to fight for her life. The plot and the characters are realistic and easy to follow through the twists and turns.

Not my typical read but I am enjoying it.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas [Book]This week I decided to read a book on my Kidle; my daughter downloaded The Boy in the Striped Pajamas last year for her language arts class. She had continued to tell me that I need to take time and read the book. I had previously told her that we would not watch the movie until I have read the book. I gave in and read the book this week. Wow, I have never read a Holocaust book before and I was surprised by how the author John Boyne was able to take the reader to one of the most horrific times in history using the view point of a young child. The book was very moving. The friendship between the two main characters Bruno and Shmuel was innocent and true.

After I finished reading the book my daughter and I watched the movie this week.  The movie was good but it did not do the story justice. I am usually disappointed when I watch a movie after reading a book.
