This week I decided to read a book on my Kidle; my daughter downloaded The Boy in the Striped Pajamas last year for her language arts class. She had continued to tell me that I need to take time and read the book. I had previously told her that we would not watch the movie until I have read the book. I gave in and read the book this week. Wow, I have never read a Holocaust book before and I was surprised by how the author John Boyne was able to take the reader to one of the most horrific times in history using the view point of a young child. The book was very moving. The friendship between the two main characters Bruno and Shmuel was innocent and true.

After I finished reading the book my daughter and I watched the movie this week.  The movie was good but it did not do the story justice. I am usually disappointed when I watch a movie after reading a book.
