The Hunger Games

Well I final bit the bullet and started reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Both of my daughters have read all three books in the series. My 13 year old has read the series three times and is anxiously awaiting the movie.

I feel as though I have already read the books because of how much my daughters talk about the characters.
The Hunger Games is an easy read and easy to follow. I do not usually like books that are set in the future. The story is a bout a young girl who lives in an area of the world that was once the United States. The young girl, Katniss is sent into the Hunger Games where she has to fight for her life. The plot and the characters are realistic and easy to follow through the twists and turns.

Not my typical read but I am enjoying it.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas [Book]This week I decided to read a book on my Kidle; my daughter downloaded The Boy in the Striped Pajamas last year for her language arts class. She had continued to tell me that I need to take time and read the book. I had previously told her that we would not watch the movie until I have read the book. I gave in and read the book this week. Wow, I have never read a Holocaust book before and I was surprised by how the author John Boyne was able to take the reader to one of the most horrific times in history using the view point of a young child. The book was very moving. The friendship between the two main characters Bruno and Shmuel was innocent and true.

After I finished reading the book my daughter and I watched the movie this week.  The movie was good but it did not do the story justice. I am usually disappointed when I watch a movie after reading a book.

On a previous post I stated that once I start reading a good book it is hard for me to put down. Well I finished Finger Licken' Fifteen by Janet Evanovich. The book kept me as entertained as the previous 14 books in the series. I am excited to get started on the 16th book in the Stephanie Plum series Sizzling Sixteen. Evanovich finds a way to keep me entertained and the twists and turns although a bit scary at times are surrounded by humor.

For the next book I am going to download it on to my Kindle. I have not read many books on the Kindle my daughters have and seem to enjoy it. I use to be a big Borders fan, now that I no longer have that option I thought I would use my Kindle for myself.

Finger Licken' Fifteen

I have the assignment of reading 90 minutes per week I decided to pick up where I left off With Stephanie Plum. Plum is a bounty hunter from Trenton in New Jersey. She is in an on and off relationship with a Trenton Police officer Joe Morelli. Currently the relationship is off. I would classify the book as a drama/comedy. One of my favorite characters in the book is Stephanie’s grandmother, Granma Mazur; she provides a lot of the comedy when Stephanie is chasing bail jumpers. The book begins with one of Stephanie’s friends an ex-hooker, Lulu, seeing a person get his head cut off.
I can say that I was excited to get back to reading the Plum series and cannot wait to continue with Finger Licken' Fifteen.

A Bit of Info

Let me start by stating that I have not read a book for entertainment since I returned to college 2 years ago. I never set time aside for me to read. Prior to returning to school I would read about two or three books a year. When I find a book that I really enjoy I have trouble putting it down.
About 5 years ago I was introduced to the Stephanie Plum series By Janet Evanovich. I believe there are now 17 books in the series. I am currently reading the fifteenth book in the series, Finger Lickin’ Fifteen.
